The Borough of Bergenfield, in partnership with the Bergen County Utilities Authority and Safeguard Document Destruction will host a confidential document shredding program for Bergenfield residents on Sunday August 26th, 2012, between the hours of 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the rear parking lot of Borough Hall located at 198 N. Washington Ave. The event will be held rain or shine.
Borough residents will be provided with opportunity to safely and securely dispose of their confidential and personal documents. This mobile document- shredding service, provided by Safeguard Document Destruction, and paid for by the BCUA, will not only provide an effective tool against identity theft, it will help Bergenfield “Go Green.”
Confidential and personal documents will be handled and recycled in a secure manner, thereby preventing the possibility of identity theft. Borough residents will have the opportunity to observe their documents being shredded on-site. Acceptable documents are limited to confidential and sensitive materials only. It is not necessary to remove paper clips, staples or paperboard binder covers. In an effort to accommodate all those wishing to participate, residents are asked to limit their documents to four (4) bags/boxes weighing no more than 10 lbs. each. All non-confidential papers (hardcover books, magazines, newspapers, photographs and x-rays etc.) should be recycled through the Borough’s regular recycling program and will not be accepted at this event.
If you have been storing personal and confidential documents because of the fear of being the victim of identity theft, Sunday August 26, 2012, between 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM is the day to safely and securely dispose of them.
