Bergenfield Offering Three Additional Drive Thru Flu Shot Clinics in October

The Bergenfield Health Department will be offering free flu shots to residents over the age of 19. The three drive thru events will be held at Memorial Park Pavilion (using the entrance at Melrose Avenue and Judith Place) from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, Thursday, October 22 and Tuesday, October 27.

All participating residents must remain in their vehicles and wear a face covering. Residents who arrive without a vehicle will be required to follow proper social distancing guidelines.

Flu shots will be provided on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

Free COVID-19 Antibody Testing and Plasma Donation Screening being Held in Bergenfield on Monday, October 19

Bergenfield residents are invited to participate in free COVID-19 antibody testing conducted by Mt. Sinai Hospital on October 19, 2020. Testing will be done between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. at VFW Post 6467, located at 321 S. Washington Avenue. 

During this time, healthcare professionals will also be screening individuals to see if they qualify to donate plasma for COVID-19 treatments. 

This event, which is being made possible for a collaboration arranged by Councilman Ora Kornbluth and First Lady Ilya Evangelista Amatorio, is open to all residents between the ages of 18 and 65. Participants are encouraged to register in advance by visiting covidserum.com/bergenfield-igg-testing. Walkins will be accepted.

Community Litter Cleanup Sun 10/18/20 at Cooper's Pond Park 2pm-4pm

There will be a community litter cleanup event at Cooper’s Pond Park on Sunday 10/18/20 from 2pm-4pm, open to all the public. Non-medical disposable face coverings, disposable non-latex gloves, light duty safety work gloves, safety glasses, and pickers will be available to volunteers during the litter cleanup event. Any non single-use item will be sanitized before and after each use. Hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and restrooms to wash hands with soap and water will be available to volunteers during the event. Face coverings and social distancing required. Food Pantry Closed on Columbus Day, Will Reopen in New Location on Wednesday, October 14

Please note that the Bergenfield Community Food Pantry will be closed on Monday, October 12 in Observance of Columbus Day.. 

Beginning on Wednesday, October 14, the food pantry will reopen at its new, permanent location in the basement of Borough Hall. Residents are advised the food pantry will resume its normal operating hours Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m, on this day. Those in need of assistance are advised to line up by the side door of the Building (Building Department entrance) in order to gain entry to the food pantry. Please review your 2020 garbage & recycling pickup schedule calendar for the week of 10/12/20-10/16/20. The Borough is closed Monday 10/12/20 in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.

IMPORTANT: There is no bulk pickup on Wed 10/14/20. Quadrant 3 bulk pickup is on Wed 10/21/20, and Quadrant 4 bulk pickup is on Wed 10/28/20. Please review the pickup schedule calendar (front, page 1) and the guidelines (back, page 2). Please do not put your bulk out until after 6:00pm the night before your quadrant's scheduled bulk pickup day. Bulk pickup days are marked with the pink letter "B" on the pickup schedule calendar.

Free Drive Thru Flu Shot Clinic TODAY for Bergenfield Residents

The Bergenfield Health Department is offering a free seasonal flu vaccination for residents over the age of 19 on today, October 7 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Pavilion. 

This year, the CDC is advising all adults to receive a flu shot as a COVID-19 vaccination continues to be researched. The flu shot administered by the Borough is a Quadrivalent, no preservation vaccine that protects against the four most common strands of the flu expected this coming winter. 

Residents interested in participating are asked to complete the below consent form.
