UNITED WATER IS TREATING RESERVOIR FOR TASTE AND ODOR
Water is safe for drinking.
United Water New Jersey customers may notice a "musty" or "earthy" taste and odor in the water. This is the result of weather conditions associated with Hurricane Irene.
Rapidly changing temperatures and excessive rainfall from Hurricane Irene have resulted in a disturbance of the reservoir, causing mixing with water from the bottom of the reservoir.
The company has adjusted the treatment process to reduce the unusual taste and odor that some customers may be experiencing.
The water remains safe for drinking, cooking, consumption and other uses.
