The Borough’s local Lidl supermarket has donated $1,500 worth of groceries to help restock Bergenfield’s community food banks. With this donation, dozens of residents will no longer worry about how they will put a meal on the table for their families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The global health crisis we are facing has proven to be a trying time for all of us, but it’s inspiring to see our community come together and lend a helping hand to our neighbors in their time of need,” said Mayor Arvin Amatorio. “On behalf of the entire Borough, we thank Lidl for their generous donation and we are continually grateful for all of those who have helped keep the community food bank operating.”
Bergenfield operates a food bank year round, but a temporary program has also been established to help those who need additional assistance during the pandemic. Donations of nonperishable food, fresh produce, personal health kits, PPE, homemade masks and monetary contributions are being accepted at VFW Post 6467 (321 S. Washington Avenue) between 7:30 a.m and 6:00 p.m. You may also contact the Borough Administration at 201-387-4055 ext. 6 to arrange for someone to pick up your donation.
