Notices & Announcements from the Borough of Bergenfield

Leaf Pickup Update – Friday, December 16th

image of Bergenfield Borough HallThe first pass for leaf collection in Quadrant # 1 and #3 was completed at the end of last week.

The DPW is currently picking up leaves in both Quadrant # 4 and Quadrant # 2.

In Quadrant #4 the DPW is currently working in the following area(s); south of West Clinton, north of Dudley Dr. and west of Prospect Ave towards the New Milford Border. They will also be clearing the area of Melrose Ave, Wildrose Ave, Lake St, Broad St. and Anderson Ave either today or Monday.

In Quadrant # 2 the DPW is working to clear the main roads, i.e. Prospect Ave, River Edge Road, Graphic Blvd, West Church St, West Central Ave, Franklin Ave before moving into the side streets.

The goal is to complete at least one leaf pickup in all four Quadrants by Friday December 23rd.

Residents, and their landscapers, are again asked to get their leaves out to the curb before the DPW makes it first pass. Do not place any branches into the street where the DPW has previously made its initial pickup.

Today December 16th is the last time garbage pickup will be cancelled for leaf collection.

Recycling will be picked up on its normal schedule. Only garbage pickup is cancelled on the 16th.

Regular Street Sweeping continues to be cancelled as the one driver has been re-assigned to a bucket loader to assist with the storm debris cleanup and the other driver, and street sweeper, is re-assigned to work with a leaf pickup crew. Normal Street Sweeping operations will not resume until the roadways have been cleared of both storm-related debris and leaves.

Additional information on garbage collection cancellations will also be distributed via Nixle, Twitter and Reverse 911 calls. If you have not already signed up for NIXLE please go to www.NIXLE.com for information. If you are not following the Borough on Twitter, please consider doing so. Finally, please check our website frequently for additional updates.

The Borough continues to thank all of our residents for their patience as we continue to work hard to clear the roads of leaves and branches.
