BERGENFIELD, NJ -- Former Bergenfield Fire Chief Norman Hoyt Sr. has passed away. Norman served the people of Bergenfield honorably for 49 years. He served as a Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief and Chief during his career.
"Bergenfield has lost a hero that served honorably for 49 years in our Boroughs fire department," said Mayor Amatorio. "Norman Hoyt Sr. will be greatly missed by our entire community and his contributions will not soon be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his family for their loss."
