Bergenfield to Pave Additional Roads this Summer in Continued Commitment to Infrastructure Investment

BERGENFIELD, NJ -- The Borough of Bergenfield is continuing to make serious investments in the future of the community by doing additional infrastructure improvements this summer to roads and sewer systems.

In order to help offset the costs of the road work, the Borough received $237,450 through an NJDOT Grant to pave Anderson Ave. and $88,521 through a Bergen County Community Development Block Grant to pave S. Railroad Ave. The Council additionally commits millions of dollars every year that goes directly towards these types of projects.

“We are continuing to invest in the future of Bergenfield by making much needed infrastructure repairs throughout our community,” said Mayor Amatorio. “We are able to do this critical work without raising taxes on residents because the Council and I have maintained fiscal responsibility and have worked hard to get grant money from the county and the state. When we have a set schedule of when these roads will be paved, we will communicate with affected residents so they know beforehand.”

Though a schedule has not yet been determined for this road work, the following streets will be paved this summer:

Elder Ave., Barry Pl., Davis Dr., Highland Ave., Merritt Ave. from Third St. to the Cresskill border, Spring Ave., Beverly Pl. and Berwyn Pl.,  Anderson Ave. and South Railroad Ave.

“Over the last six years as Borough Administrator, we have made it a priority to take a proactive approach to infrastructure,” said Borough Administrator Corey Gallo. “Under Mayor Amatorio and the current Council, this approach has continued without needing to raise the tax burden of residents. We work with the county and state to get as much grant funding as possible, while also working with our private partners at PSE&G and Suez to get their work done.”
