PSE&G Outage Update - November 9, 2012

PSE&G logoPSE&G has completed the majority of power restoration to throughout the Borough. They are now starting to focus on small pockets of power outages and individual locations.

Residents who have not yet had their power restored should contact PSE&G @ 1 800 436-7734 to make sure that PSE&G still has their location listed as NOT HAVING POWER.

Residents who still do not have power should also e-mail the Borough Administrator at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that he can also forward your outage information to PSE&G.

Tax Department news - November 8, 2012

exterior of Bergenfield Borough HallGrace Period for 4th Quarter Property Taxes has been extended to November 20, 2012 because of the extensive power outages, downed trees, road closures and other disruptions for the citizens of Bergenfield.

Public Tax Sale for Delinquencies will be held on December 18, 2012.

Warming Station and Shelter Information - Upcoming Storm

exterior of Bergenfield Borough HallIn preparation for the anticipated Nor’easter storm expected to enter this area on Wednesday evening Nov 7th, the Borough and the Board of Education are once again opening a warming station at Roy W. Brown Middle School on S. Washington Ave. The warming station will open from 5 pm Wednesday evening to 6 am Thursday morning. Residents without power can go to the Middle School to warm up and to charge their various electronic devices. This is not intended as shelter.

For residents who need overnight accommodations due to a lack of power/heat, a shelter has been established at the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute in Mahwah. Those who need to make use of this shelter facility are encouraged to take their own transportation to that location as the Borough has an extremely limited amount of fuel.  For those who cannot utilize their own transportation to get to the shelter facility, please call the Police department as soon as possible and we will attempt to arrange transportation for you.

Emergency voting for displaced voters

voting boothRegistered voters that have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy will be allowed to vote by fax and email. To vote electronically, voters must email or fax their mail-in ballot applications to the Bergen County Clerk Election Division (201) 336-7005 or 336-7075, or email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before 5 p.m. on November 6. If the application is approved, the Clerk will then send the ballot by fax or email to the voter. The ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on November 6.
