TECHNICAL ASSISTANT TO THE CONSTRUCTION OFFICIAL (TACO) – BERGENFIELD BOROUGH. The Borough of Bergenfield is seeking a qualified and certified Technical Assistant to the Construction Official (TACO) for a full-time position. This role supports the Construction Official and Sub-Codes in providing quality services to contractors and residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in current best practices, manage day-to-day operations, and improve data systems. The Technical Assistant will assist in daily functions, provide guidance on building codes, answer OPRA requests, review applications for accuracy, and maintain data systems. Effective communication and coordination within the department and with external parties will be essential. The candidate must be a certified Technical Assistant to the Construction Official (TACO). Experience with GovPilot is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and strong organizational skills are required, along with attention to detail and customer service skills. The candidate should be a team player and Spanish-language proficiency is preferred. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
