Bergenfield Public Library and DPW to Host Earth Day Celebration Thursday, April 22

BERGENFIELD, NJ -- In celebration of Earth Day 2021, the Bergenfield Public Library and DPW are inviting residents to a special event on Thursday, April 22 at 4pm. Participants will receive a tote bag with goodies such as planter seeds, soil, a plant marker and more!

“Creating a more sustainable and environmentally conscious generation is undoubtedly a great thing,” said Mayor Arvin Amatorio. “I am grateful to our hardworking staff at the DPW and Library for putting this event together and for teaching our kids valuable skills that they can take with them through life.”

The event is open to all ages. Children in attendance will be given the opportunity to plant their seeds in person at the library if weather and public health rules permit. Winners of the third and fifth grade Bergenfield Schools Earth Day posters contest will be proudly displayed during the celebration.

“I am thrilled that we are teaching Bergenfield kids from a young age critical lessons on gardening, recycling and sustainability,” said Councilman Rafael Marte, Chair of the DPW and Parks Committee. “Thank you to our outstanding municipal employees for making this event possible and for always going above and beyond for our residents.”

This event will be in person, outside of the library if the weather and health emergency allows. Space is limited. Masks and social distancing are required in accordance with CDC guidelines. If circumstances do not permit, take home kits will be offered.
