Bergenfield Raises Dominican Flag at Borough Hall for First time in History in Honor of Dominican Independence Day

BERGENFIELD, NJ -- The Borough of Bergenfield is honoring its Dominican community this week by raising the Dominican flag at Borough Hall for the first time in history. The decision is part of this week's celebration of Dominican Independence Day which is February 27th.  The ceremony will take place on the steps of Borough Hall located at 198 N. Washington Avenue on Saturday, February 27th at 12pm (RAIN or SHINE).

“In Bergenfield, we have a proud and vibrant Dominican community and it is time that we honored their contributions to our borough by hoisting the Dominican flag,” said Mayor Arvin Amatorio. “We are fortunate to be a part of such a diverse and inclusive community and it is imperative that we celebrate that whenever we have the opportunity.”

“What makes Bergenfield so special and unique is how welcoming it is to different cultures and groups of people,” said Councilman Rafael Marte. “My family and I have made Bergenfield our home and gotten so involved in our community because we recognize what a great place this is to live. I am thrilled that the Dominican flag has finally been raised at Borough Hall.”
